High Point
Hound Dogs

High Point Elementary, a Title 1 school located in the greater Atlanta area, serves approximately 750 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. The school, affectionately known as the “High Point Hound Dogs,” has experienced several identity and branding transformations over the years. However, these changes often led to a lack of consistency and a clear direction.

To address this, 485 was tasked with creating a fresh start. The challenge was to design a logo that embodies diversity, promotes high academic standards and performance, and incorporates the rich history of the school. Additionally, it needed to appeal to a younger audience while projecting the image of a professional educational institution.

The result is a vibrant logo featuring “Buddy,” the beloved hound dog mascot, surrounded by silhouettes of children in various colors. Each child is depicted engaging in playful or academic activities, reflecting the dynamic and inclusive spirit of the school. In a nod to High Point Elementary’s heritage, we used the same font found in the school’s original signage and yearbooks from 1963.

This new logo is not just a static image; it functions as a versatile system. It can be deconstructed into individual elements, such as children participating in specific activities, all while keeping Buddy at the center. This adaptability makes the logo suitable for various applications, from representing athletic teams to academic competitions, and ensures it remains distinctive and recognizable in different contexts.
